FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 12, 2010) Chief petty officer selectees from various commands at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base conduct a lifeboat exercise in Lake Worth. The selectees are participating in the pre-dawn event to commemorate the sinking of the World War II cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA 35). The ship sank in the Philippine Sea after being torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on July 30, 1945 after delivering parts of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima to Tinian Island.
