Staff Sgt. Miah Torre spoke to attendees at an enlistment and re-enlistment ceremony July 1 in the courtyard of the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. The ceremony was held to commemorate the 35th year of the 'all volunteer force.' Since 1973, the U.S. military has been manned by those who volunteered to serve, not by those drafted into service.
